LG CNS launches Touch Doctor-faraway-distance healthcare system in Korea

LG CNS launched long-distance healthcare system called Touch Doctor in Korea on Wednesday. The system allows patients from home to measure their own blood pressure, blood sugar, electrocardiogram and fat mass. Patients connect the devices to Touch Doctor, a computer monitor-like device, which will transmits data to a professional nurse at a healthcare center via the World Wide Web. The heath manager will talk with the patients via Web telephony, give them advice, and connect them with a medical center

whether their condition is not good.

Many ideas in the long-distance healthcare system have already been commercialized in Korea. Samsung Electronics recently marketed a BioPC allowing patients to diagnose illnesses such as cancer and diabetes whether they put a disk containing a freshly collected blood specimen into the computer.
